Dog Bite

Dog bites are a traumatic experience that can leave a person with a lifetime of physical and psychological problems. Under Michigan law there are two possible ways to hold a dog owner responsible if you are bit by their dog. The first way is if the dog bites you and was not provoked the owner is liable regardless of whether the dog has a history of viciousness. The other way an owner can be liable is if the dog has a history of viciousness or is abnormally dangerous and the owner knew or should have known of the dog’s propensity for danger.

In additional to the psychological trauma a dog bite can cause scarring and the dog’s saliva can sometimes cause an allergic reaction.
